Peacock and Urn

Northwood Underside

Fenton Underside

Several manufacturers used the peacock as a central theme in their patterns. Northwood, Fenton and Millersburg all had a "Peacock and Urn". Northwood's version, pictured top left and right, has beading in the urn, a bee at the peacock's beak and the peacock may have two or four "tiaras" on its head. Northwood's pieces are often marked in the plain base. Marigold and amethyst are most found followed by the "pastels", white, ice blue and Ice green. Lime green, smoke, renningers blue also appear and aqua opalescent would be quite a find. Found mostly in master and small ice cream bowls, it can also be found in a chop plate or ruffled bowl both formed from the master ice cream bowl.

Fenton's version, pictured bottom left and right, comes in plates and in bowls either ruffled or ice cream shaped. It also appears as the interior pattern on stemmed compotes. Fenton's version has the "Bearded Berry" pattern on the exterior of the plates and bowls. Fenton's Peacock and Urn can be found in various colors including blue, marigold, amethyst, green, and white.
